NEW APPLICATOR TRAINING COURSE
Developed in collaboration with AGCO, this course is specifically for new applicators with less than three years of experience. Training is conducted at a dedicated facility specifically designed for this training purpose. Our state-of-the-art training facility has over ten acres with a mile-long track designed to provide the most realistic hands-on driving experience using five different applicator machines. The track contains a variety of exercises to help familiarize participants with the basic skills required for becoming a professional operator.
Key elements of the course include:
  • Professionalism and importance of the applicator's role.
  • Experience operating five units in our fleet of applicators on a dedicated track designed to test your skills.
  • Reading and understanding product labels - the roadmap to success.
  • Understanding how to protect yourself in an emergency.
  • Completing math and measurements with more confidence.
  • Understanding sprayer components and systems.
  • Learn why calibration is the cornerstone of all accurate applications - liquid and dry.
  • See how computers are used to control the sprayer system.
  • Agitation and its importance.
  • Understanding your responsibility as a professional applicator and the consequences of poor decisions, shortcuts or misapplication.
  • Learn which resources to turn to for information on new chemistry.
  • Understanding the differences in tank additives.
  • Developing a drift management plan.
  • Learn how to reduce or eliminate off-target applications due to spray drift.
  • Exercise various drift management strategies to hone your skills in selecting the proper combination of drift controls for the different field situation you may encounter.
  • Tank cleanout - what to watch for and how to know when it is really clean.
  • Safety on the road.
  • Exercise your understanding and skills of reloading an applicator from a tender unit.
  • Trailering your unit safely and legally.
  • Understanding the importance of recordkeeping.
  • Course supports efforts to pass State applicator test.
  • Learn how to assess each field - know where to start and what to look for in planning your application.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Combined experience, the instructors for this cutting-edge course have more than 90 years. Greg Yoder is the lead instructor assisted by Gary Cornell. Both instructors are seasoned professionals from within the ag industry who started their careers as professional applicators in the early 70’s. The team of Greg and Gary bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the course.
