Overview
Fuel tanks must be capable of resisting damage from the impact of a motor vehicle or suitable collision barriers must be provided. When guard posts are installed, the following design is acceptable:
- Constructed of steel not less than 4 inches in diameter and filled with concrete;
- Not spaced more than 4 feet on center;
- Not less than 3 feet deep in a concrete footing of not less than 15 feet diameter; and
- The top of the posts should be set not less than 3 feet aboveground and should be located not less than 5 feet from the tank.
