Overview

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) establishes rules of safety governing the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. Portable air tanks and other pressurized vessels used by the public are stamped with data at the time of manufacturing that indicates the ASME codes of manufacturing. Included in this information is a date that invalidates the pressurized vessel and requires it be removed from service.
