Overview

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established containment regulations to protect human health and the environment from exposure to agricultural pesticides which may spill or leak from stationary pesticide containers. This protection is achieved by the construction of secondary containment units or pads at certain facilities handling agricultural pesticides. Stationary containers of liquid pesticides must either be anchored or elevated within a secondary containment unit to prevent flotation in the event that the secondary containment unit fills with liquid.
